As concluded by an UK science historian, Joseph Needdham, through his textual research, about 4,500 years to 3,500 years ago, the first vehicle emerged in China; it is mentioned in Zuo Zhuan (a very important book recording the social conditions of the Spring and Autumn Period 722 BC – 403 BC) that vehicle was invented by Xi Zhong in the early Xia Dynasty and if the record is true, then it was 4,000 years ago; Archeologist also found a vehicle used for burying in the cultural relics in Yin Dynasty (about 3000 years ago), when the vehicle comprised a carriage, a shaft and two wheels, which had been a relative mature vehicle. There was a legend in ancient China that Xuan Yuan Yellow Emperor (Huang Di) had inserted a wood in the center of a round wheel to make it run and thus a vehicle was made. But since there are so many inventions owing to Huang Di, we can not take it as true easily.
